Autism Evaluations
Neurodivergent Affirming Adult Evaluations
Do you resonate with descriptions of the Autistic experience?
Perhaps your curiosity has grown about your strengths and differences as you’ve engaged in therapy or personal growth.
Maybe you recognize aspects of your own experiences and traits in your child who has received a diagnosis of Autism.
Or maybe a family member or friend is encouraging you to pursue an evaluation.
Whatever your starting place, you are welcome here! I work with adults age 18+ who are seeking formal assessment and diagnosis.
Neurodivergent Affirming
As a Neurodivergent affirming practitioner and neurodivergent individual, I honor and celebrate the diverse ways in which brains can function. The Neurodivergent affirming perspective holds that Autism, and other forms of neurodivergence, are natural variations of the human experience rather than deficits or disorders that need to be "fixed.”
My approach to the assessment process focuses on honoring and validating your lived experience and exploring patterns of behavior and sensory interests, as well as your strengths and differences. I work with you to determine if a diagnosis of Autism is accurate and provide you with a written report that will assist you in integration, advocating for your needs, and empowering yourself and others in your life to embrace your neurotype.
I specialize in working with folks who have received diagnoses that don’t seem to capture their experience, females, and those who identify as LGBTQIA+.
Process and Approach
The assessment process is adapted from training from Dr. Emily Haygeman and Dr. Marilyn J. Monteiro, and consists of four sessions in which we will:
Gather mental health and developmental histories
Review psychological tests and screeners provided by your provider which are completed by you before our initial session.
Work through an extensive interview with you known as the MIGDAS
Review information provided by those who are close to you if that is needed and/or accessible.
At the end of the process, you will receive a written report detailing your history, details, and analysis of the findings, a summary of the current presentation, diagnostic impression and appropriate diagnosis, and recommendations and ideas for the next steps in your journey. Our final session together is a time for us to meet together to discuss the results, their impact, and the integration of discoveries into your life.
Cost and Insurance
Autism evaluations are offered as an out-of-pocket service, I am unable to accept insurance for evaluations at this time. I am happy to provide you with a superbill upon request for claims you wish to submit to your insurance independently.
The cost of the entire evaluation process is $1200.00 which includes the cost of all assessment materials as well as time spent outside of sessions compiling results and writing the final report.
I accept credit/debit and healthcare reimbursement cards as well as cash. Payments are set up before we meet through a billing form which is sent to you via a HIPPA-compliant portal. Payment can be completed at once or can be broken up into 4 payments.
